Fiorentina fell 3-1 to Roma in the Italian Super Cup final, played in La Spezia.
The Viola came close to taking the lead early on through Agnese Bonfantini, after good work through Emma Severini. However, Roma struck a few minutes later through Benedetta Glionna's long shot, which snuck in at the near post. Sofie Bredgaard's free kick nearly leveled the scoreline, but the Dane's effort came off the crossbar. Sebastian de la Fuente's girls kept the pressure on, and Bonfantini once again had a great chance to score before half time.
The Viola's pressure finally told in the 60th minute, when Madelen Janogy's smart left-footed finish found its way past Roma's keeper. However, Fiorentina's joy was to be short lived, as Valentina Giacinti struck two minutes later to give Roma the lead once more. Despite the Viola's pressure the girls were unable to muster up another equaliser, and the game was put out of sight by Alice Corelli on the counter.
