Coach Raffaele Palladino and defender Fabiano Parisi faced the media ahead of Fiorentina’s away tie against Celje in the Conference League. Here’s some of what they had to say:
Palladino:
“The Conference League is a big tournament. We’re proud to be in the quarter-finals and we want to go all the way. We’ve learnt from this tournament that teams really give their all. We know that we can’t out there with the wrong mentality.
“Celje are a technical side who often change their system. They score a lot of goals. They’re unbeaten at home and are the reigning league champions in their country. The whole of Slovenia will be watching so we’ll need to be ready for a real battle. We mustn’t think that we should aim to win this tie tomorrow – we have to approach it with both legs in mind.
“Robin [Gosens] is doing better and we’ll evaluate as to when he can return to action in the coming days. We’ve got other options in his role, such as Fabiano Parisi or Michael Folorunsho. I won’t tell you who’s starting tomorrow.”
Parisi:
"I suffered a blow to my ankle against Milan but I’m available for selection. Everyone gets a chance to show what they can do throughout the season. We’re all top players and we need to be ready when the coach calls upon us. We’ve got a big game tomorrow and we’ve got to give our all.
“As a Fiorentina player I will always give my best, but the team comes first. We have to focus on our fans and our objectives.
“We all put in a great performance at San Siro. I know that I can improve some aspects of my game but the Milan game is a great foundation.”
