Nicolo Zaniolo was unveiled to the press at Viola Park's Wind 3 Media Center on Friday. Here's a selection of what he had to say:
ON FIORENTINA: “I've played for lots of clubs but it felt right to come back here. I left at 16. I know everyone and it's like coming home. I'm focused on this team and on giving my all for this club.”
ON PALLADINO: “I heard what he had to say and he was right when he said there was no need to convince me to come to Florence.”
ON MOISE KEAN: "I've known him for ages and he's doing brilliantly here. Now I'm thinking about doing what's best for the team.”
ON THE INTER MATCH: "It was an amazing game. We deserved to beat one of the best teams in Italy. I've joined a team that's doing great things and I'll work hard to earn the playing time the coach gives me.”
ON LEAVING IN HIS YOUTH: “In 2016 the club opted to make different choices. I hope to win a trophy in Florence now.”
ON PLAYING IN EUROPE: "The Conference League is a difficult competition with tricky teams to beat. We'll make sure we're ready.”
ON CELEBRATING: "The best thing about being a footballer is the joy of scoring a goal. Celebrations should be something that comes from within while always respecting the opponents."
ON CHOOSING FLORENCE: "The club showed an interest in me last summer too but I chose Atalanta. When the opportunity arose again in January, I had no hesitation.”
ON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOTS: "We're a really good team and we can have our say. We have to go out there with the aim of taking three points from every match. We're not setting any limits.”
ON HIS POSITION: “I'm basically a right winger but I can play in the hole too and even at centre forward if needed.”
ON LUCA RANIERI: “We've been friends since we were kids. We used to take the bus together to go to training. He was always very determined even back then. He never liked losing. I've always thought he could achieve great things.”
ON THE ITALIAN CONTINGENT: “When you have a core of Italians it's easier to settle into the changing room. There are lots of quality players here and that's why there's so much competition for places. I'm ready to play as soon as possible."
ON EDOARDO BOVE: "We played together at Roma. He's an incredible guy who always has time and tries to help, with a positive attitude on and off the pitch. He's very intelligent and such a nice person too."
ON HIS SHIRT NUMBER: "I chose 17 for a kid who died during the earthquake in Turkey. I made a promise to his dad.”
