Prade: “This must be our turning point”

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade hailed the team’s extraordinary performance in the 3-0 victory over Juventus, describing it as the best display of the season. More than just a win, he believes the result should trigger a mental turning point for the squad.

“It was an incredible Fiorentina display tonight, our best of the season, no doubt. On top of that, this game has to be a turning point for us mentally. It has to make us understand that we are capable of competing with anyone.”

The Viola have endured a challenging few months, with injuries and changes within the squad disrupting their form, but Prade praised the group for their unity in overcoming those obstacles.

“It’s true we’ve gone through a tough couple of months. The squad wasn’t complete, things changed and there was an evolution, but we stuck together brilliantly and tonight was so important. It’s a special day for Joe [Barone], against our biggest rivals and it was the kind of match that needed to give us this joy and this feeling. We’re delighted for his family, for Camilla and for all the boys. We’re overjoyed for the president and for our fans.”

Beyond the result, Prade hopes the performance will bring back a sense of unity, not just within the stadium, but in the wider Fiorentina community.

“I truly hope this match gives us back our sense of togetherness, both inside and outside the club. I’m not talking about the stadium, our fans make the difference there, but in general. We haven’t had the best results away from home, and we know that, but this must be something that brings everyone back together. I really hope it does.”

“The team showed its true quality on the pitch. It wouldn’t be right to focus on individuals, because this was a team effort. [Nicolo] Fagioli was outstanding tonight, but I don’t want to talk about just one player. From the first minute, we approached the game the right way. The coach prepared it brilliantly and we knew exactly how we had to play. This proves that we have no limits.

“It hasn’t been an easy season. We haven’t always had luck on our side, whether it was Edoardo Bove’s situation or all the injuries we’ve dealt with, but we’ve shown real strength and unity. Now that must carry us through to the end of the season.”

Finally, Prade revealed that President Rocco Commisso shared in the team’s joy, both before and after the match.

“We spoke to the president before the game. He addressed the team and reminded them how important this match was, not just for the club but for Joe and his family. We spoke again afterwards and he was absolutely thrilled. We celebrated with the whole squad. It was a really special moment.”
