Ndour: Keen to join Fiorentina

Cher Ndour faced the press today at Viola Park. Here’s what our new signing had to say:

On his role: "I'm ready to adapt to any midfield role, although I love playing box-to-box. I feel comfortable in all positions and I’ll do what the coach asks of me.”

On the negotiations with Fiorentina: "There were various teams interested in me in Italy, but when I heard Fiorentina was after me there was only one place I wanted to go.”

On the national team: "It would be a dream to reach the senior national team, but my priority is to do well with Fiorentina.”

On his team-mates: "I spoke to [Michael] Kayode before joining and he told me about Viola Park. I had the opportunity to train with my new team-mates and I’ll happily get stuck in.”

On his past: "I had a good time at Atalanta. When I left I felt I had to change in order to gain new experiences. Benfica is a club which focus a lot on young players. I saw [Kylian] Mbappe do some amazing things in training.”

On Serie A: "I've always followed Serie A. It's a different kind of league – it’s very tactical and physical. I don't think my physique will be an issue, but in any case I have to adapt to the team's way of playing. I think I can really contribute and help the coach by filling in across the midfield. It’s up to him to decide. I’ve got a good connection with the coach.”

On Fiorentina's idols: "Fiorentina has an incredible history. Many great players have played here. The player I love most is Rui Costa, who was also my president at Benfica. He's always given me a lot of advice and I'll always be grateful to him.”

On the dressing room: "We’re a young bunch and that helps a lot because they're all good guys. They’ve got great humility and desire to work. I hope I can fit in as best I can to contribute and see climb as high as possible in the league.”
