Nicolas Valentini was unveiled at Viola Park:
“Delighted to be here and I can’t wait to pull on the Fiorentina shirt”
What was it like waiting to play for the club, given you came to Florence a while ago?
“I’ve trained with the team although I haven’t played, because of the issues at Boca Juniors. I’m really happy to be here.”
What have your team-mates told you about the club? You had contact with Roma and Daniele De Rossi prior to joining - what was said?
“I played with him while he was at Boca. I spoke to him but I fell in love with Fiorentina from the first moment I had discussions to [Daniele] Prade. I really liked what Prade had to say when he called me. Then I saw this training ground and I was enthralled.”
Do you feel ready for Serie A?
“It’s a tough league, really different to Argentine football. However, I’m training as hard as I can so I can play as soon as possible.”
Who are your defending role models?
“I really like [Alessandro] Nesta. I watched him a lot and I love how he plays football. As for Argentine players, I love Cuti Romero. There are many other great defenders in Argentina. I love Lisandro Martinez as well, he’s left-sided like I am.”
Are you better suited to a back three or a back four? What are your characteristics as a defender?
“It’s up to the coach how we play. I can play with one centre-back partner on the left of a back three.”
What are your impressions of the coach?
“I’ve seen all of Fiorentina’s games when I was in Argentina. I think the coach is really well-organized and I love how the team play.”
